The EatoFoundation is the permanent governing body of the EatoSystem. It is not a company, a charity, or an NGO. It is a foundation — a legal and constitutional structure specifically designed to hold assets, standards, and mission in perpetual trust.
Think of it as the sovereign layer of the EatoSystem — the institution that ensures no commercial pressure, ownership change, or generational turnover can redirect what is being built away from its original purpose.
It is being constituted right now. The first 1,000 Founders are not joining a finished institution — they are helping to write it. Their intelligence, values, and commitment form the human foundation on which everything else is built.

EatoFarm land, platform infrastructure, the EatoIndex, brand, and intellectual property are held in perpetuity by the Foundation. These assets are not owned by individuals or investors. They cannot be sold, mortgaged, or transferred outside the Foundation's structure.
Independent Governance
No single interest controls.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Stewards — appointed for their alignment with the mission, not their financial stake. No individual, company, or institution holds controlling influence. Decisions are made collectively, with public accountability and fixed-term oversight.
The first 1,000 Founders.
Before the EatoFoundation is formally constituted, it must be formed by the people who believe in it. The 1,000 Founders are the human founding body — carefully selected individuals from every background and discipline who help shape the founding documents, contribute to the founding capital, and become the first community the Foundation exists to serve.
They are not passive members. They are co-authors of the earliest layer of the institution. Their values, intelligence, and collective commitment are the raw material from which the Foundation's culture is made.

Governance structure.
The Foundation is governed with the same rigour and transparency it expects of the food system it is building. Simple rules, consistently applied.
Board of Stewards
5 to 9 members, appointed for their alignment with the Foundation's mission. No single steward or affiliated entity holds more than one vote in any core decision.
Fixed Terms
Stewards serve fixed terms of 4 years, renewable once by independent panel assessment. This prevents entrenchment and ensures the board evolves alongside the mission.
Independent Appointments
New stewards are proposed by the existing board and ratified by an independent panel drawn from civil society, ecology, and food systems expertise — not from the commercial partners.
Annual Public Reporting
The Foundation publishes an annual report covering financial performance, mission progress, asset status, and governance decisions — publicly available without restriction.
Mission Review
Every five years, the Foundation undertakes a formal mission review — not to change the mission, but to assess whether its activities remain fully and authentically aligned with it.
No Commercial Override
Commercial partners and operators — including EatoFarm developers — have no governance rights within the Foundation. All commercial relationships are structured as licences, not ownership.
Self-sustaining by design.
The Foundation is not a charity. It does not depend on grants, government funding, or donations. It generates its own income from the operations it governs — permanently and proportionally.
Founders' Contributions
The first revenue the EatoFoundation ever receives comes from its 1,000 founding human members — each contributing from €25 per month. This founding capital base is established before any commercial operations begin.
Operator Licence Fees
EatoFarm developers and operators pay licence fees to use the EatoSystem framework and brand. A fixed percentage flows to the Foundation automatically and in perpetuity.
Platform Access
EatoVerse platform operators and commercial partners contribute a share of access revenues directly to the Foundation's operating fund and endowment.
Revenue Share
A fixed percentage of total EatoSystem commercial revenues — set in the founding documents — flows to the Foundation automatically. This cannot be renegotiated.
Mission Endowment
Founding gifts from aligned individuals and institutions provide a permanent capital base. The endowment principal is never drawn down — only its returns are used.
